LFFF DC Fund

Flexible early-stage facilities financing for Washington, D.C. public charter schools.

The LFFF DC Fund is part of the DC Charter Facilities Fund (DCCFF), a coordinated initiative designed to expand access to facilities financing for public charter schools across Washington, D.C.

The fund provides flexible, early-stage capital for acquisition, predevelopment, leasehold improvements, and starter construction financing — helping schools move projects forward during the stages where access to capital is often most limited.

At launch, the LFFF DC Fund is capitalized at $22.5 million and is projected to grow to $50 million over time through additional investment and credit enhancement support.

What We Finance

The LFFF DC Fund fills a critical gap in the DC charter school facilities financing landscape.

Acquisition Financing

Support for schools purchasing land or facilities before permanent financing is secured.

Predevelopment Capital

Flexible financing for diligence, planning, entitlement, design, and other early-stage project costs.

Leasehold Improvements

Capital to support tenant improvements and facility upgrades for leased school spaces.

Starter Construction Capital

Early-stage construction financing designed to help projects advance toward larger construction and permanent financing solutions.

About the LFFF DC Fund

The LFFF DC Fund builds on Level Field Facilities Fund’s national experience supporting charter schools at early stages of facilities development.

Since launching its pilot fund in 2021, LFFF has provided flexible, project-enabling financing to schools navigating acquisition, predevelopment, leasehold improvements, and early construction financing in markets where traditional capital can be difficult to access.

In Washington, D.C., the fund is designed to support a range of school models — from single-site operators to growing CMOs — with financing solutions tailored to the realities of each project.
