Jane Ellis Brings Decades of Community Development Experience to LFFF’s Credit Committee
The Level Field Facilities Fund is pleased to announce the appointment of Jane Ellis to its Credit Committee.
Jane brings more than two decades of experience in community development, charter school finance, and nonprofit leadership to Level Field. She is the Founder and Executive Director of Charter Facility Solutions, a Colorado-based nonprofit loan fund that helps charter schools overcome challenges in finding suitable and affordable facilities.
Before founding Charter Facility Solutions, Jane spent over a decade with Self-Help, a national CDFI headquartered in Durham, North Carolina. There, she led the organization’s Charter Lending Team, expanding its footprint nationwide and providing more than $300 million in financing for charter school facilities.
Throughout her career, Jane has been deeply committed to equity and access in education. She has served on numerous nonprofit boards and committees — including charter schools, state charter support organizations, and as Co-Chair of the National Charter School Conference Program Committee. She is also a frequent workshop leader on facility finance, budget management, real estate development, and school governance. Prior to her work in charter school lending, Jane spent 20 years in francophone Sub-Saharan Africa and the Caribbean, working in community and economic development — experience that shaped her lifelong dedication to creating opportunity through education and infrastructure.
“We’re honored to welcome Jane to our Credit Committee,” said Shelly Cleary, Level Field Facilities Fund President. “The Credit Committee plays a central role in advancing Level Field’s mission, and Jane’s deep understanding of both finance and community development will be an incredible asset as we continue our mission to expand equitable access to quality school facilities.”
LFFF’s credit committee members provide expert oversight and strategic guidance on lending decisions. Their collective experience in finance, education, and community development strengthens the Fund’s ability to support charter schools nationwide.
